Synopsis:

Hannah (Lizzy Greene) is still grieving the loss of her younger sister Sam who fell as they attempted to climb the sheer-sided walls of El Capitan. She struggles sometimes with the guilt and her own body still bears the scars of the accident.

Hoping to return her to some version of her old self, her boyfriend Rick plans a dream adventure for them and their friends– a tour of the sun-kissed Fijian islands, deep in the tropical Pacific Ocean. And once there, a particular beauty spot catches their eye– a once in a lifetime chance to visit a ‘ghost island’. Pink sand beaches, technicolour coral reefs, all set in a crystal-clear lagoon. It’s sheer, unmatched heaven. But there’s one catch: at high tide, the whole atoll is submerged by the wide ocean, in a matter of only a few hours.

Grizzled tour operator Alan delivers them by boat and promises to return. But the next morning, with no sign of Alan, and the waves rapidly beginning to flood the island, the friends are forced to retreat further and further towards higher ground, deeper and deeper into the island’s jungle interior.

What’s more, a massive, ravenous and ruthlessly determined Great White shark – nature’s ultimate maritime predator, now driven to these warmer waters in search of prey – has locked on to their scent. And when they start getting picked off, the friends begin to understand the true horror of their situation.

Led by Hannah, now in her element once more and shedding the ghosts of her past, the group must use all their courage and ingenuity– and the secrets the island has to offer– to survive. As day turns to night, and the island is beset by tropical thunderstorms and vicious King Tides, safety disappears beneath their very feet, bringing them ever closer to the monster…

High Tide is ingeniously, uniquely and savagely simple – a ticking-clock survival thriller that grabs hold and never lets go.
